Moving forward I am completing the planning for the Baby Boot Camp and I am doing some consulting for NuLife to assist them in moving forward in the most efficient manner. I put a lot of work and integrity into my mentorship and  I really appreciate my mentor for taking the time to advise me. I have learned a lot about the operations and management side of business which was my goal. My mentor also offered me an administrative position so I believe that I made a great impression, did a lot of work, and brought a new perspective to the business.

Today was a shadow day and I focused on the operations at the facilities. I was able to go in and see the flow of the day as employees set them up for clients. I love how the atmosphere is so inviting, as I client I never paid attention to the details but looking from the administrative side I was able to recognize the music that sets the tone to get clients ready for their workout, the trainer behind the desk greeting clients, answering questions, and taking orders. There are several amenities and technological advances to make checking in and working out a flawless experience. Everything works together to create an experience for the clients, one that is innovative and challenging to keep things interesting. My mentor really wanted me to get the full experience  she wanted to be sure that I had all my questions answered from the administrative side so that I could gain more experience with effectively handling that side of the business  My favorite thing had to be when my mentor was making smoothies and she and her client joked about how she does not make good smoothies, it reminded me of how she always says you must be willing to do everything that you have your employees do and it showed how she has a strong rapport with her clients.

My mentor and I walked through the Superior facility and talked about what my mentor wanted to bring to the facility and even how she was thinking of what to do with that facility. how that facility is the one that she wants all of her facilities to resemble including the franchises. We discussed ways to improve the child care and how to drive more traffic to this location. All of her facilities are doing well as far as making a profit but the Superior location does not have the traffic that she wants yet it has all of the amenities that the organization. We went over proofs for the billboards and signs that will go on the buses next week. We discussed areas that she needed help in moving forward and I told her that I would go over my notes to advise her how to move forward.

Continuing with the work I started on  organizing the Baby Boot Camp I had to create letters to send to sponsors, local businesses, schools, and potential partners. I had to create a media advisory and an itinerary for the day. I continued to go through my resources and gathered new contacts to compile a list for the I began submitting my ideas and going back and forth with my mentor to lock details in concrete. I also assigned tasks to employees and had my mentor go over the work until we were completely satisfied. The details are so important with programs and they are my favorite and least favorite things but the details are what make things standout.

My wanted me to develop the Baby Boot Camp that she and I created. The Baby Boot Camp is to encourage kids to get healthy to give adolescents the tools necessary to make healthy decisions. The camp is free so that the unprivileged kids have an opportunity to participate and have access to knowledge and tools to help them prevent long term harm caused by poor health de I had to organize a plan for execution, I started by logging all of the tasks that needed to be completed and completion dates. I also had to come up with branding concepts, the media lists and local businesses we will reach out to. Letters needed to be drafted to get potential sponsors. I also had to make several phone calls and emails to get the program set up. I had to research and create options for the branding so that I could present them to my mentor to give her some options to choose from. This project is exciting because my mentor and I worked on it together and she wanted me to help her implement and run the program, that was a huge compliment and I will continue to work with her on organizing the program so that she and her staff can pull off a great event that will impact the community.

My mentor and I had a wrap up meeting and it went really well. I feel as if I have gained so much from this experience and I am forever grateful to my mentor for allowing me into her world. I know how having a demanding schedule and a laundry list of responsibilities can be so adding me to the list was amazing. My mentor was always present, positive, and ready to give me the best experience ever. I had a lot of tough days trying to manage it all but when the final products came together I was happy that I could add value to her vision. Today she made sure to answer any questions I had left over and she gave me a lot of programs to help me in the vulnerable areas of my business. Her advice was priceless and she was very thorough in making sure that we covered everything to make me comfortable. One thing our schedules didn't permit was another shadow day at the facility so we scheduled one for next week, it is after the class closes but she still wants to make sure I get all that I can from her. I will also help her finalize a few things on a program I created fo

As I mentioned I decided to take the initiative and create a rough draft for a company look book. Look books are very popular when it comes the fashion world but I think they are great for letting consumers and potential partners, investors, sponsors etc know what a business has to offer. NuLife the brand is doing so many wonderful things and I think that a look book will bring all of those things into one document so that people are aware of all that there is to offer. I compiled what I thought was best to put in the 2013 look book and gave my mentor insight on how she could use it for her benefit. I also told her that it would be a great idea to have her graphic designer spruce it up so that it is appealing to the eye. She absolutely loved the idea and was very excited that I brought it to her, it sparked some great ideas for her and she has her graphic designer working on it so that she can get them printed and out to the public. I think that this will also help with organizing what the brand is doing and always promoting the different lines and products/services the brand has to offer.

As I was working on the media kit I thought that it would be extremely useful to create a look book for the company as well. NuLife has so many services and products and it is important that the audience aware of them all. I know for sure the Splash bar has amazing recovery and meal replacement shakes that are for sale to the public and I know that a lot of members are not aware that they can buy shakes at anytime not just when they are working out. I feel like the look book will be great for potential sponsors and business ventures but it will help the organization promote products as well. NuLife Fitness Camp offers boot camp classes, NuLife DVD, NuLife fitness apparel, NuLife Splash Bar, NuLife Whey Protein just to name a few and when you have so much going on you have to do checks and balances to ensure that your are capitalizing on everything. Growth and success are great but it comes with not only a lot of time management but having the proper product placement, packaging, and promotion.

I am continuing to work on the media kit, my mentor has so many things going on and my job is to organize them all in one document so that she can present them to the media. I think it is important to be consistent and professional in your presentation you want to set the tone for media, although they make the ultimate decision on how they present your brand if you present yourself to them in a certain way you can help guide them into the direction that you want them to go. The media kit that I created and I am editing will be able to be used on current and future campaigns and it will be easy for staff to update and send out. I definitely feel a little pressure because I know that this is something that the business really needs and I want to be sure that I do it right and not to mention is close to the end of my mentorship so I have so much to manage and prioritize.

At our lunch meeting my mentor and I discussed some of the projects  I did for the company she was very happy with the work I have done and she asked for my input on how to run a program she plans to implement over the summer, she and I were able to brainstorm and come up with a great way to run the program. The meeting also allowed me time to ask her about how she managed her employees and how she was able to find a balance so that they knew she cared but they still respected her as a boss. She told me that she has always run her business as a corporation and that includes how she works with her employees; they are trained and know what is expected from them at all times, they have performance reviews and they receive incentives such as bonuses. She told me that there are many challenges that arise but the key is to keep your integrity in everything you do. Sometimes the best decision is not easy but you have to think about the big picture. She told me that she often gives people more chances than she should and I laughed because I told her sometimes I don't give people enough chances. We also discussed how hard it is to obtain a balance between work and personal life and how not everyone can understand that when you are on a mission you do not have time for the things that you once had time for. I told her how I have learned how she is constantly thinking of ways to make getting fit fun and interesting, she is always trying to keep her clients motivated by offering challenges and incentives for them to push themselves to the next level. As we stood in line waiting for our food we discussed the signage and how she needs to get large display posters for her facilities. When you own your own business you are constantly thinking of ways to improve your business it becomes second nature to think about going to the next level you just have to remember to enjoy the present moments also.
